Waitangi Day

These people are carrying the banner in the honour of Waitangi day because they think it has not been honoured.

The treaty was signed on February 6th 1840. 40 Mauri chiefs signed it but later over 500 more signed. most of the chiefs did not know how to write they used symbols and crosses. The treaty was signed Waitangi which is just above Auckland. The treaty was between 2 groups the british and the Mauri. there is a Mauri version of the treaty and an english one.

They are now debating which copy is the correct one.
